What is it?

About this condition

Some patients have had pain for months or years, have consulted multiple specialists, and still do not have a clear diagnosis or effective treatment. Interventional pain medicine has diagnostic and therapeutic tools for these complex cases that other approaches do not address.

Common symptoms

How does it present?

  • Persistent pain lasting more than 3–6 months without identified cause
  • Normal or inconclusive studies (MRI, labs)
  • Having consulted multiple specialists without resolution
  • Pain affecting multiple areas of the body
  • Feeling that "nobody believes" the pain is real
  • Prior treatments without satisfactory results

Interventional approach

Treatment options

Each case is evaluated individually. The treatment plan is defined at the first appointment.

Comprehensive diagnostic evaluation

Detailed clinical history, complete neurological and musculoskeletal examination, review of all prior studies. Diagnosis precedes treatment.

Diagnostic-therapeutic blocks

Selective nerve blocks that simultaneously identify the source of pain and treat it.

Spinal cord stimulation

For complex refractory chronic pain where the central nervous system is sensitized and other treatments have not worked.

Individualized multimodal plan

Combination of interventional procedures, pharmacology, and non-pharmacological strategies designed specifically for each case.

Have questions about your case?

Frequently asked questions

FAQ · Chronic Pain

Could my pain be "psychological"? +
Chronic pain always has a psychological component — that is biology, not imagination. But it almost always also has an identifiable physical component. Both are addressed.
Is it worth consulting a pain specialist if I've already seen many doctors? +
Yes. The interventional pain specialist has a different perspective and tools compared to other specialists. Many patients with years of pain found resolution at their first pain medicine consultation.
How long is the first appointment? +
The first evaluation is comprehensive and can take up to 60–90 minutes. This is the time needed to fully understand the case.
Do you have options for pain that does not respond to anything? +
Yes. Spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal infusion pumps are options for severe refractory pain that does not respond to any conventional treatment.
